The Executive President,
Ibusa Association USA, Inc
Chief Augustine Odume
On behalf of all the member of Ibusa Association, USA Inc. Welcome
to our new Ibusa Association, USA Inc website designed to promote
our image, socially, educationally and for the economic well being of
Ibusa people all over the world. At Ibusa, our homeland, we have
many problems to deal with; among them are security issues,
inadequate water supply, electricity, medical issues such as HIV and
so on. Today our top priority is to raise the awareness of illiteracy
amongst the under privileged in our home town Ibusa. We know the
importance of education in the life of a people.
We also know that a mind is a terrible thing to waste.
It has been well documented that the state of schools in Ibusa is
deplorable. We can not rely on the government of the day to do
everything for us. Please look at the pictures of some the schools at
Ibusa, it speaks volume, it is shameful, deplorable, disgusting and a
great pity for the sons and daughters of Ibusa to be educated under
such conditions. Moreover, information reaching me indicated the
absence of basic amenities, such as, a functional restroom nor
adequate books for the student. Ibusa, had one the first and oldest
teacher training colleges in Nigeria, (Saint Thomas Teacher Training
College)  Why then must we not join hands together to reclaim our old
glory by doing all we can to improve the condition of all the schools in
Ibusa. Our fund raising events must continue, to help elevate some of
these problems. I thank the Southern California and Dallas Chapters
for organizing the fundraising events to aid our school program. I am
encouraging all the Ibusa association chapters in the United States,
Canada, and United Kingdom to emulate this noble cause until we
changed and improve the deplorable state of schools in Ibusa.
My sincere appreciation to Mr. Boni Nwukor and Ashimedu Obata for
creating the web site. Please let us continue to work together. As the
saying goes- Unity is strength. Adina Ofu Obi Ibusa Ana Ga Nihu.

Thank you.

From Ibusa National
Executive.

Sequel to the last National Executive Committee meeting where the
curtains were finally drawn on the issue of the National Committee
participation at the 2008 National Convention billed for Washington,
we write to officially inform you of the decision reached. Ibusa
sons and daughters from 4 Chapters of the Association namely:-
Atlanta, Chicago, Southern California and Houston (majority) on
May 3, 2008 voted, approved and on one accord declared the said
Convention a local event without recognition and backing of the
National Executive Committee. By this, the National Committee and
the afore-mentioned chapters are not to grace the convention in
question, but members could be there or participate on individual
basis.

The need to take this action became imperative given the facts of
the extensive deliberations as contained in the minutes of the
Committee from September 2007 through March 2008.

The consensus was that after so much debate that lasted over six
months about the guideline, much was expected of the
Baltimore/Washington chapter in action. Yet, nothing came out of
the whole ripples and melodrama.

This thing is not personal. People should know that the decision
reached was in tandem with the section 8, sub-section 9.1 of the
2004-revised constitution on National Conventions, that conferred
and empowered the National Committee to do what it did. We were
not after anybody/chapter in the course of our duty. The decision
points the way forward for the Association.

Success and God bless!

Best Regards.

Phillip Nzegbuna.

National General Secretary.
